Students at Ashlawn School are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results today, with their hard work, determination and commitment to giving ‘our best, always’ reflected in their successes.

The results build on last year’s progress and achievement, which is testament to the dedication shown by students throughout the run-up to their exams, as well as the support of staff, families and the wider school community who were cheering them on along the way.

Alongside fantastic achievements in English and Mathematics, there were also particularly impressive performances in subjects including French, Spanish, Design Technology and Performing Arts.

Stephen Darby, Head of School, said: “I would like to congratulate all of our students on their GCSE results and the tremendous effort that has led to today’s successes.

"Behind every grade is a story — of hard work, of challenges overcome, and of brilliant teaching and support from staff and families alike. That's what we're celebrating today.

“Most importantly, these results open doors to a wide range of exciting opportunities for the future. We’re delighted that the majority of our students will be progressing into our Sixth Form and look forward to supporting them in the next stage of their journey.”

Dawson Ohandjanian, achieved a phenomenal nine Grade 9s and one Distinction 2. He will now be staying at Ashlawn to take up his Sixth Form studies. He said: “I did better than I expected, I can’t believe it. The school have helped me to achieve my goals and I’m looking forward to starting sixth form next year."

Abbie Jackson was delighted to find out that she secured seven Grade 9s and four Grade 8s in her GCSEs. She said: “I’m really proud of the grade I got in Further Maths in particular, as I was struggling with that subject - I’ve made so much progress.”

Nelly Ganta said: “I’m really pleased with my results today, especially my 9 in Spanish, 8s across all my sciences and 8 in Maths! The school was a great help – lots of good revision sessions, good lessons and support outside of lessons too.”

Omshri Balasubramanian was celebrating top results and said: “I’m so happy about my Maths – I finally got an 8, and I achieved 9s in my English exams. I was really nervous about my Science results but that’s come out well. My English teacher supported me so much, as did the Maths department who are all amazing. I can’t thank them all enough!”

George Prescott demonstrated the power of solid support from staff, saying: “The subjects I’m most proud of are my triple science, getting two 8s and a 9 in Physics and probably my English score, given at the start of Year 11 I was looking at 4s and 5s, and I’ve managed to end up with a 7 and a 6.”

Also celebrating today was Connie Fox, who said: “I’m most proud of my English Lliterature and RE grades, my teachers have helped me so much with all of the revision sessions and advice."

Helen Stevenson, CEO of Transforming Lives Educational Trust (TLET), which runs the school, said: “GCSE results day is an important milestone for our students and an opportunity to celebrate all of their achievements and everyone who has supported them along the way.

“Today’s results reflect not only academic accomplishment but also the perseverance, character and determination that our students have demonstrated throughout their time at Ashlawn.

“We are incredibly proud of every student and wish them every success as they take their next steps. We look forward to seeing them continue to thrive.”
