SSAT Student Leadership Accreditation (SLA)
The SSAT Student Leadership Accreditation is a national, student-driven award designed to formally recognise young people's leadership skills and positive impact in their schools and communities. Developed collaboratively by students and educators, this free accreditation is structured around three key themes: Developing Myself, Contributing to My Community, and Working With Others. Through building a portfolio of evidence aligned with these themes, students can achieve Bronze, Silver, or Gold awards. The process encourages self-reflection, skill development, and peer moderation to ensure a meaningful and authentic recognition of student leadership.
At Ashlawn our students opt into a specialist faculty where they receive training on how to plan and deliver short teaching sessions. Once confident and prepared, they go on to deliver these sessions within our school and our local primary schools. Throughout the process, they collect evidence of their leadership, planning, and delivery skills in a personal portfolio. Their completed portfolio is then assessed, and they are awarded a Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificate based on the quality and impact of their evidence.
