Ashlawn Singers, run by C Solway. This runs Monday lunchtime and is in Mu1. The club is for all students in years 7, 8 and 9 and is completely free to join. The music is very varied and includes learning how to sing harmony as well.

Music Technology Club, run by S Humphries. This runs on Monday after school and meets for two weeks out of every four in Mu1. It is for all students that are interested in learning about music technology. (Mixing desks/PA/mincing techniques) It is free to join, but numbers are limited.

Steel Pan Club is run by S Humphries and J Windebank. It is on every Tuesday after school in Mu1, and is open to all students. Places are limited due to the number of instruments available. There will be a number of opportunities for performances during the year.

Ladies Barbershop and Male Barbershop meet every Wednesday lunchtime and will take place in one of the practice rooms. These are quartets and the groups are formed by students. S Humphries and C Solway provide help and guidance so can work with a number of choirs at a time. If you wish to start your on quartet - let us know!

Orchestra runs after on Wednesday every week and is led by C Soway, in Mu1. Students that have instrumental lessons in school and play an orchestral instrument are advised to attend. Orchestra lists will go up in music shortly. Students that have instrumental lessons outside of school may also join - it is free to join.

Stomp runs on Thursday after school every week and is led by S Humphries. This club is free of charge and is for students in all year groups. The club will start off in Mu1 and may well then move. Please note that numbers for this club have to be limited!

For those interested in being involved in the musical, Sweet Charity, Mrs Solway and Mrs Pickering will be running rehearsals for this event in the drama room or Mu1. If you are interested, please speak to Mrs Pickering or Mrs Solway as soon as possible. The rehearsals for the musical elements of the show are on Thursday after school. They may well finish a little later than 4.30pm - please speak to Mrs Pickering for further details.

Brass Ensemble meets every Friday lunchtime and is led by J Windebank in Mu1. Students that play a brass instrument are welcome to join - if you have a lesson on a brass instrument in school it would be really good for you to join this ensemble as it will help with your lessons.

Wind band is on Friday after school and is led by S Humphries. Students that play a wind instrument (Woodwind and Brass) are strongly encouraged to attend this ensemble as it will enable them to get the most from the instrumental lessons that they have. This will take place in Mu1 and is free of charge.

Unless otherwise stated, all music clubs run from 1.30pm-2.10pm (lunchtimes) and from 3.30pm-4.30pm (after school).

Awards

On Wednesday 8th December 2 students from Ashlawn School competed against other local secondary schools to qualify for the Regional Final of ‘Young Chef of the Year'.
