On Tuesday 14th Dec 2010 Ashlawn School presented its first Christmas lectures, 'Noisy messy science with Mr Southern'

Based on the Royal Institute style lectures Mr Southern, Head of Physics, and Mr Kaye presented an exciting physics and chemistry show demonstrating a variety of entertaining experiments revealing the properties and forces of all types of energy. The evening was well attended by students and their families from Ashlawn and the local junior/ primary schools.

A nominal fee was charged for entry and raised £92 for our partner school in South Africa to buy essential and science related equipment. The students at Ntabayengwe School have very little but are very eager to learn. Ex-Ashlawn teacher Mr Toulson has been working out there with them and appreciated just how far our contribution will go to improving their learning environment.

Many thanks to Mr Southern and Mr Kaye and we look forward to next year!
