‘Flying High’ Aviation Evening
(6 votes, average 3.67 out of 5)

Lower school students from Ashlawn School were joined by pupils from Paddox, English Martyrs, Hillmorton, Bilton Junior, and Dunchurch Schools on Wednesday for a practical workshop getting to grips with the basics of flight.

After discussing advances in aviation over the last 100 years, students created their own models to see who could fly the furthest.

Glenn Henbury and Chris Bates of CADMAC (Coventry and District Model Aircraft Club) kindly brought some radio controlled planes to help demonstrate the physics behind flying, students then tested their skills on a helicopter simulator to see how long they could keep it in the air... it's trickier than it looks!

Mr Rob Southern, Head of Physics at Ashlawn School said 'We hope that by making Physics fun we can inspire young people towards futures in science!'
