Course Title | Product Design | Awarding Body | Edexcel | Course Level | AS & A2 | Course Description | Students are encouraged to take a broad view of DT and develop their capacity to design and make products. Particular emphasis is on their appreciation of the complex relations between design, material, manufacture and marketing. | Course Content - AS | Candidates develop an understanding of the physical and mechanical properties and a broad range of materials and components.
During the AS students may submit a single design and make the project, or two smaller projects and/or a portfolio of work. | Course Content - A2 | Students classifying material and identifying testing and comparing their application to product manufacture. Examinations of alternative designs and redesigning existing products make this an interesting unit which brings together many of the skills learnt in the AS.
