Course Content - AS
The first year of this AS Level course provides you with a framework for analysing the Media while exploring representation and audience responses. Technical production skills are developed using specialist Desktop Publishing Software.

Course Content - A2
The second year of this A Level course develops skills from the AS and broadens your ability to use concepts such as genre, narrative structure and organisation and representation. The relationship between media institutions, texts and the audience provides fertile ground on which to develop analytical writing skills.
Assessment
AS - 50% exam, 50% coursework
A2 - 50% exam, 50% coursework
Career Opportunities
The course provides a good grounding in analytical skills which complement studies in English and Communication and Culture. Media Studies is a useful preparation for any University degree but with special application to specific career paths including Business Studies, Media, Communication and teaching.
Entry Requirements
GCSE English Language and Literature Grade B or English Language and Media Studies Grade B.

On Wednesday 8th December 2 students from Ashlawn School competed against other local secondary schools to qualify for the Regional Final of ‘Young Chef of the Year'.
