Course Content - AS Unit 1 - Stalin's Russia 1924-1953/USA Civil Rights 1945-1968 This unit looks at life and liberty in Russia and the USA in the twentieth century. Stalin's regime and the changing nature and the changing nature of civil rights in the USA are assessed through essay based questions. Unit 2 - The Changing position of Women and the Suffrage question in Britain 1860-1930 Students investigate how the rights of women changed during this period and will be assessed through source based essay questions.
Course Content - A2 Unit 3 - Twentieth Century International Relations 1944-1990 Unit 3 is an overview of the conflict between the superpowers 1945-1990, including the Vietnam War and Cuban Missile Crisis. Assessed by source based and knowledge questions. Unit 4 - Medicine in Britain in the twentieth century 1870-1990 This coursework unit examines the changing provision of medical care in Britain during the period, including the introduction of the NHS in 1948.
