A one year course normally taken in Year 12. Students will build upon the transactional language learnt at GCSE, developing their skills to become more independent users of the foreign language. Students will study language used in a business context. They will build up fluency through a wide range of authentic listening and reading material, and small group sessions with a language assistant.

Course Content - A2
This is a two year course in which students must follow the AS course in Year 12. Students will further develop their skills to enable them to discuss in depth, topics such as the media, social issues and the arts.

Career Opportunities
Linguists are in great demand due to their ability to communicate and think independently. Graduates tend to go into manufacturing, business, law and teaching. A good subject to combine with Law, Engineering or Business.
Entry Requirements
Minimum Grade B preferred. Must have attempted the Higher Level Paper at GCSE

On Wednesday 8th December 2 students from Ashlawn School competed against other local secondary schools to qualify for the Regional Final of ‘Young Chef of the Year'.
