In April this year Ashlawn School hosted a training event for Primary Schools to train them to teach Food Technology at KS1 and2. The event was designed and delivered by Lorna Pountney (Head of design Technology) and was attended by 16 feeder schools from the rugby area. The focus of the course was to promote food as a cross curricular subject which can also enable schools to get their 'healthy schools award'. The training also promoted the 'eat well plate' and showed teachers how to make this learning experience fun. A pack full of ideas about how to inform parents about healthy lunch boxes was also developed.

The training given will also help promote a smooth transition from KS2 Design Technology to KS3. The event was a real success! thanks to everyone who attended.

Best wishes
Lorna Pountney
