Young Chef of the Year 2011!!!
(28 votes, average 4.04 out of 5)

On Wednesday 8th December 2 students from Ashlawn School competed against other local secondary schools to qualify for the Regional Final of ‘Young Chef of the Year'.

The students involved were Nick Carter and Alice Stewardson in Year 11. Nick is Head Lead Learner for Design Technology and Alice is Lead Learner for Food . Both of these students have excelled with their culinary skills throughout KS3 and KS4 and have been working hard during the last 4 weeks to create a Nutritious, Healthy 2 course meal. The menu had to show creativity, demonstrate a range of high level skills and be made using seasonal produce.

The competition was fierce and the pressure was really on for both students to perform but I am absolutely thrilled to announce that both students won a prize. Nick Carter achieved 3rd place and Alice Stewardson achieved........... 1st!!!! Alice will now go to the Regional Finals which is on 1st February 2011.

Well Done to both Students........ you have done the School and myself very proud!

Good luck to Alice in her forthcoming event!

Lorna Pountney (Head of Design Technology)
